physical fitness Living Above The Bar Wellness Challenge 2015
The Wellness Committee is hosting its inaugural “Living Above the Bar Wellness Challenge” from September 15 through November 15, 2015. This 8-week challenge will have something new for its participants each week, and it will provide educational information and tips for accomplishing each challenge. The challenge is for ALL age and fitness levels and prizes will be given out during the weekly challenges. Use the hashtag #LivingAboveTheBar and tag the @SCBar and/or @SCBARYLD handles for an opportunity to win more prizes! Registration closed on Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. All questions may be directed to Lindsay Joyner, ljoyner@gwblawfirm.com or (803) 724-1706.

Format: Each week there will be a different challenge. For example, during the sleep week, your challenge is to get the appropriate amount of sleep each day (7-9 hours). For the cardio and strength weeks, you will be asked to do a certain, manageable amount of cardio and strength during that week, and if you’re a regular exerciser, you will be asked to increase your strength or cardio workouts to push yourself outside your comfort zone. Each week, you will learn the challenge for the week as well as the reason why that particular challenge is important for your overall health and wellness. You will also be provided tips and workouts to help you accomplish each of these goals.

During the weeks where the challenge is not exercise based, the Wellness Committee encourages you to keep up your usual exercise routine, continue the exercise routine you established during the Strength and Cardio weeks, or begin an exercise routine. If you have never exercised before, be sure to begin slowly easing into the routine and check with your physician if you have any health concerns.

Challenge Topics:
Week 1: Hydration Week 2: Strength
Week 3: Cardio Week 4: Mind/Body
Week 5: Diet Week 6: Sleep
Week 7: Partner Workouts Week 8: Variety in your Workouts
